R1.16

This paddle plays very similar to the Joola Hyperion CFS at a fraction of the cost. This paddle offers amazing spin, power and control. The only draw back to this paddle is that the sweet spot is not as forgiving compared to the Hyperion but that can be improved by hitting higher accuracy shots. I had no issues hitting deep serves with heaby topspins and dinks with very good touch. I'd highly recommend buying this to anyone who's tired of spending over $220 on a carbon fiber paddle. The CEO of Ronbus definitely knows what he's doing when creating a paddle.

I am currently a 4.0+ player and I've tried a huge number of paddles. For the longest time, I was using the Joola Hyperion CFS 16mm as my primary paddle. I tried so many paddles only to return to the Hyperion. The Ronbus R1.16 was the first paddle that caused me to move away from my Hyperion. If I'm being honest, this paddle shares a ton of the characteristics you would see on the Hyperion -- solid build, great sweet spot, soft plush feel, and power when you need it. The feel of the handle, which in my opinion is the best part of the Hyperion, felt just as solid on the Ronbus (no exposed polymer). I tell people that when I hit the ball with the Hyperion, it feels like I'm swinging a 2x4 versus a little stick with many other paddles. The Ronbus feels just like that. I've played exclusively with this paddle for over a month now and I honestly love it. This paddle is really soft and plush. It is an absolute third drop machine. Dinking with this paddle also feels fantastic. With all that said, this isn't a power paddle. I think I can generate a bit more power with the Hyperion because of how head heavy it is. However, my hands feel significantly faster with the Ronbus. This paddle won't be for everyone. PRO TIP: Ignore anyone that says that a single paddle is the best paddle for everyone. That doesn't exist. It is all about having the right tradeoffs for your game. This paddle is going to be great for a player that wants more touch and really likes playing cat and mouse at the NVZ. If you're a power player that really loves to drive the ball, get yourself a Selkirk Power Air. At this price, though, this paddle can not be beat. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this paddle for the beginner or intermediate player.

Tom Clements founder ”Mo Pickleball” 62-year-old, 6’2” 200lb and 4.0 ranking. Today was my first day playing with a Ronbus. Out of the package it felt well balanced. Not to heavy and not to light. I checked the edge guard for separation as that seems to be an issue with paddles these days and the guard seems to be well attached. The paddle looks very clean. I added electrical tape and mega tac tape on the handle. As for play (indoor) after about 1/2 of the first game against similar players, I started to dial in the paddle. It plays a lot like an edgeless paddle as in its very quick at the net. After a day of play I would say this paddle plays like a hybrid of speed, control and power. I did not feel like I needed to add weight and I dug out more overhead attacks than I ever have. I haven’t played with it enough to determine if it has anything I don’t like about it but so far it checks off all the boxes for a paddle that does it all. I need more time to see how much spin I can create with it (outdoors) and will do a follow up on that aspect. But for resets, slow game, power it has it all. I am very impressed and can’t wait to get back out there to play.

Level: 4.5 w/ tennis background After playing with the R1.16 after switching from a Vision CGS 16mm, I'm happy to announce that the R1.16 is just as good, if not better. Construction: The R1.16 feels incredibly well made and even when removing the overgrip to see if there was exposed polymer or a flimsy construction, I was happy to see the handle was solid and the paddle looked properly supported at the throat (the most common breakage point for paddles). Also, unlike a lot of cheaply made handles, the octagonal handle on the R1.16 feels exactly the way it should, and not some weird rectangle/oval hybrid. The handle length is also perfect for those of us that use a two handed backhand! Control: The R1.16 is as plush as they come in my experience. Obviously the 16mm core helps but i felt myself having a lot of confidence when dinking or rolling my angles at the NVZ. Also, the sweet spot was plenty big that offsets weren't too big of an issue. Although the sweet spot isn't as large as a paddle w edge foam, it's more than sufficient and can be improved greatly by just using four smaller strips of lead tape on each corner of the face. Balance: Love the balance of the paddle. Honestly one of the big places this paddle shines. Although the base weight is a bit heavier than some midweight paddles, the weight is distributed great and feels significantly more headlight than many paddles at the same weight. Hand speed was not a concern at all either due to the aerodynamic shape and weight distribution. Power: This is where you as the player needs to know your game a bit. As someone who can generate their own pace, I'm not too concerned w power. I felt like this paddle provides enough pop for me to finish points, but I also put a tiny bit of lead tape at the 10 and 2 just for that bit of extra spin and pop. Essentially, if you're buying this paddle it's not because you want the paddle to generate all the pace, but rather you can yourself and want a paddle that can handle that effectively without sailing everything! Spin: Don't have a scientific test for this, but I found myself being able to hit all the angles and spins I needed to in order to be an effective player. Not out of this world, but unbeatable at this price point. Overall, an awesome paddle and it's now my singles and doubles paddle.

I primarily (still) play tennis (USTA Rated 4.5) but demo'd, AND OWN, several Pickleball paddles, using the Ronbus R1.16 & Engage Omega Evolution Extreme X for matches, OR when other players get annoyed by the Ronbus EV1 or Diadem Vice. The R1 is an extremely solid & versatile paddle in all aspects, feels & plays great, and proud to say sometimes more so then all of the above mentioned paddles. I love picking up the Ronbus R1.16... THANKS!!

Love the R1.16. The price is fantastic and the paddle has that soft, controlled feel that you want from a carbon fiber paddle. The spin is great too - forced a ton of errors on heavy topspin serves and slice returns that stay low and cut through the court with all the backspin. Great on drops and dinks too, most control I've felt up there on those (although this is the first carbon paddle I've used). Only complaint is that I would like some more power on drives. Definitely more of a doubles paddle than singles

I got this paddle last week, and I'm loving it. I've been able to demo several paddles across the most well known pickle ball brands. This is my favorite paddle thus far. It feels balanced and has the perfect blend of power and control. I can hit drives from behind the baseline with relative ease yet the paddle face is still soft enough to make dinks feel easy. You will not find another paddle of this caliber at this price point.

This is the first paddle upgrade I have purchased in my short pickleball career. I have played with several brands but mostly entry level paddles. Really noticed the difference on the texture of the carbon and consistency across the entire surface. Cheap paddles have a very specific sweet spot with weird dead hits but this thing eliminates that for me. Very easy control and power that works for my skill level. Very pleased!

This paddle made me a better player! Great control which helps me with my dinking but gives me that power i need when needed. Plus has a great price! I will definitely buy this paddle again. Thank you!

I waited until I could use my R1.16 paddle numerous times to give a fair review. I have used it about 25 times now. Even though there are much higher priced paddles this was a big step for me. I wanted a paddle that will help me in my game but not have regrets of overspending. Here are my thoughts 1. I loved the look online of the paddles and love it in person. It is a classic, simple and elegant look. I feel like I look like a serious player using it. 2. I had been used to paddles that made a lot of noise when I hit a ball. When I got my paddle it took awhile to get used to the material making the ball feel like it was absorbed into the face. I am 69 years old and I didn't need to lose a lot of power. 3. The ace in hole was the customer support. I heard via email from the owners when I had questions but the slam dunk was getting a phone call to talk Pickleball and my new paddle. So much help. I learned about the strategy of using lead tape strips to increase its weight for power or for more control. I was given Pickleball strategy and using my new paddle to make my game better. 4. I placed lead tape up at the top in a 11 PM and 1 PM location and lead tape at 7 PM and 5 PM location. I now have more power both at baseline returns and in volleying. I also found could direct the ball better in passing shots or going the other way. 5. If I need to buy a 2nd or 3rd paddle I will come back to the Ronbus paddles. I am very satisfied.
