R2 Nova
I am a 4.5 tournament player. My game is finesse and touch. I love the feel and touch of the R2 Nova. It's excellent in fire fights and at the kitchen. If your a quick player the shape of the paddle won't be an issue. I did add lead tape to 3-6, and 9-6.I'm 60 and mobility is my issue. I am going to stick with my R1 Nova with the extra length for now but will continue to work with the R2 .

Really Nice
This shape is perfect for me in all the series. This thing is an absolute control monster that still has power when I need it but is lightning fast in my hands. Really feels good and is well rounded, I love it.

Best of the Nova series
An excellent addition to the Nova series, the paddle is extremely fast at the kitchen with a big forgiving sweet spot. It has the soft plush feel like the other Nova series but in a standard shape which provides a better swing weight and twist weight. And because the swing weight is so low, the pop feels pretty good when accelerating the paddle for a punch.

Sometimes a paddle choses you.
My perspective: I am a 4.0 tournament player who is identifies more as a finesse player than a banger. I don’t have a tennis/paddle sport background. My other go-to paddles are Nova R3, and Plusar R1FX. I purchased this paddle in early July as a Connect Program test paddle and have 150-200 games played with the paddle. Setup: Diadem Pro Touch over grip, and 4g of lead tape at 3:00 & 9:00 on each side. Overgrip + Lead tape puts me at 8.3oz. Pros: * Man can you whip 2H backhands and flicks with this thing! * Mid court resets are on point. * Hand speed at the net is off the charts, as expected. Percentage of hand battle wins against the Joola Gen3’s, Gearbox PPE, etc went up very noticeably. * The updated peel ply texture on the R2 Nova is a huge improvement. Combined with the dwell time on the Nova you can really dip those drives and serves, and very easy to shape the ball at the net. *Lighter stock static and swing weights makes the paddle very easy to customize you our preference with added perimeter weighting. Cons: * Slightly reduced forehand power at the baseline due to lower plow through. Pretty standard for a widebody paddle. Improved topspin helps balance it out. No complaints. Originally, I was testing this paddle with the sole intention of recommending it for my mixed doubles partners who prefer lower swing weight paddles. However, this paddle immediately impressed me and QUICKLY became my tournament paddle of choice. If you’re looking for a paddle that is easy to customize, isn’t super specialized or flashy, a heavy banger, but is good at just about every aspect.. this just might be the paddle for you. Highly recommend. Here is to falling in love with a paddle I had no intention of using myself.

Perfect all-around paddle
4.0, I mostly do REC play but do tournaments here and there but this paddle is fantastic in either setting. I'm normally pretty picky with what paddles I buy (needing to play with them first) but I got if off of a whim since I liked the R1.16 so much and the NOVA has been amazing with it's all around consistency. It has the perfect touch to hit a drop from anywhere on the court, can generate plenty of spin, doesn't have too much pop, and still has enough power to put things away.

Gold Standard for Control Paddles!
The R2 Nova is the perfect combo of control and high forgiveness blended with enough power to rival other Gen2 paddles. This has been my go to paddle and I am in love with how easy it is to shape the ball to where I want it to go. From dipping drives, to consistent low drops, the R2 Nova is the perfect control paddle for anyone wanting to improve their game!

Great Paddle: spin, control, power, consistency
This paddle is excellent. The low swing weight, high spin, good control and nice pop make this paddle my go to for doubles.

Longtime R1 Nova lover finds an upgrade
I played the R1 Nova for 9 months and when this came out I had to give it a try. I had most recently switched to the R2 FX because it turned out I loved that shape, and I figured the Nova version might suit me even better. To be honest, I didn't feel like it played massively differently from my R2 FX, except its stock weight and SW are much lower and so I needed to add tungsten to get it to my preferred heft. But I think that's better because I can always add weight, but can't take it away of course! The paddle plays well but you'll need to bring your own power; I felt sometimes I needed to exaggerate my lift or body weight transfer to get the ball where I wanted, but on the other hand it did great absorbing pace for resets.

Kitchen Demon
Just received my R2 Nova and it's awesome. It is a dinking machine. Off-centet hits are still solid thanks to a great twist weight, and speed-ups are so easy due to the very favorable swing weight. So much fun playing doubles with this paddle!
