Great balance of power and control
I've been playing the 5.25" handle version of the R1 Pulsar for a little over a month now and absolutely love the paddle. For reference, my prior 2 paddles were the 16mm Joola Hyperion CFS and the 16mm XSPak Tournament Edition. I was playing both paddles at 8.75 oz with a 9 11/16" balance point. I also briefly tried the 16mm Vatic Pro V7 but it was too stiff and powerful for my liking. My R1P arrived with a stock weight of 8.10 oz and an 9 3/8" balance point. After adding my preferred over-grip and electric tape as edge-guard from 10-2 the paddle weighed 8.35 oz with a 9 7/16" balance point. I decided to initially play the paddle without any lead tape to get a feel for the paddle as is. Coming from "plush" gen 1 CF faced paddles the transition to the R1P was pretty simple. It's slightly stiffer but is still has a great plush feel. I haven't experienced any "flyers" where the ball unexpectedly rockets off the face like I've experience with other thermoformed paddles. Spin is what I would expect with a "raw" CF faced paddle. Power is similar to my old Hyperion CFS but at a full 0.4 oz lighter and much lower swing weight. I have done some experimenting with lead tape but I keep going back to stock as it simply works best for my game that way. If you are coming from a gen 1 CF faced paddle and are worried that thermo-formed paddles might not be for you due to stiff/hard feel then I highly suggest you give the R1P a shot. The R1P still has a plush feel while only feeling slightly stiffer than gen 1 paddles.

R1 Pulsar
I’ve been using the 5.25” handle R1 Pulsar for the last month. Having used a Hyperion CFS 16 for a long time, I wanted something that felt a little more balanced (not as head heavy), and something with a little more power. This is part of the new wave of thermoformed paddles, and it is the one with the softest feel. Resets, kitchen-play, and drops are easy money, and when you speed up the ball, the extra power is a welcome addition. If you love the hybrid shape for faster hand speed, but want something with some pop, this is the answer. Excellent all court paddle with a little extra power. My friends keep taking it from my bag they love it so much.

The only paddle you need
The R1 Paddle is one of the best paddles I have played with since I started playing pickleball about 1.5 years ago. I would say that I have probably played with about 10 different paddles and this paddle is my all time favorite. This paddle has it all, power, control, low swing rate and lots of spin and you can't beat the price either. I have taking this paddle on the courts with me and everyone that plays with this paddle is running to their phone to place an order for the paddle. I have also played with the R3 Pulsar paddle which is also a good paddle but I just prefer the lighter paddle with a better swing rate that also helps me deal with my tennis elbow. So stop thinking about it and just order the paddle already, you will not regret it. =) Mahalo Kaimuki Pickleball Ohana Group

R1 Pulsar Control with Power
I have been playing with this paddle for 2 weeks. Well balanced and it makes drops, resets, and dinks easy. The paddle demonstrates power on servers, returns, and drives. The paddle can handle defensive blocks and counters due to it not feeling head heavy and light in your hands. I have let others try out this paddle and everyone wants to buy one for themselves. This is a great thermoformed paddle that provides control and power at a reasonable price.

Amazing R1 Pulsar
Received my R1 pulsar just a few days ago, add two rolls over-gripped on the handle and love it the best since the first moment I tried on court, it's the best balanced among my 17 paddles including legacy pros, crbn 1x 14mm and gruvns etc, Ronbus R1 pulsar is beyond what I'm expecting ! Amazing control and spin, top notched hand speed, power is just adequate for my game.

FINALLY, found the perfect Paddle
I am currently a 4.5 singles and doubles player. I discovered this sport in October of 2022. Since then, I have spent a ridiculous amount of money on paddles in search of the perfect one and finally found the R1 Pulsar. I have gone through the journey of purchasing and playing with the Selkirk powered air, Gearbox CX14e and CX 11e, Paddletek Bantam ts-5, Paddletek Reign Pro, Engage Pursuit EX and MX, Oneshot Katashot and Katashot XL, Rouge 2, XSPAK tournament edition, Legacy Pro, Vatic Flash, and Vatic Pro v7, CBRN 1, and CBRN 1x. BUT FINALLY, I found the perfect paddle with the perfect specs. The R1 Pulsar is everything I ever needed and more. I love this paddle so much that it makes all the arguing with my fiance about all the paddle purchases WORTH IT ALL. This paddle is so perfect; it makes me believe in a higher power. Thank you, Ronbus, from the bottom of my heart for creating this paddle. The swing weight, the grit, the control, and especially the hybrid shape while still having a 5.5 handle length is truly the blessing I need in my life. I have three tournaments in July to include the PPA, and I am super excited to use the R1 Pulsar. Now I just have to convince my fiance that I need to purchase another one LOL.

Solid
I love the paddle, with lead tape. Huge adjustment coming from a soft paddle with 5.5 handle. All the good things you’ve heard about the paddle are true. Love the control and plenty of power and tons of pop. It does feel stiff but I’m getting used to it. I’m loving the quickness of the shorter handle at net. Very forgiving with miss hits. the customer service at Ronbus is top notch. The paddle feels more like a 14mm, in a good way. It didn’t come with a cover which was a surprise. I’m very happy with the purchase.

Great Thermoformed Paddle Option
The R1 Pulsar is one of the best feeling thermoform paddle on the market, not to mention one of the more fairly priced options. It has lots of access to pop and power but also retains some of the plushness that comes with previous generation carbon fiber paddles. Another plus is that the stock weight comes in pretty light so that there's a lot of leeway to add lead tape and customize the balance. After using the two different handle lengths, I prefer the 5.25" because of the marginal increase in handspeed and can still hit two handed backhands comfortably with it.

For tennis players
I’m 73, a 3.5 level USPTA tournament and team tennis rated, converted to pickleball 3 months ago. I play with skilled pickleball players in a large organization. When I started, I bought a $49. XSPAK paddle pair, graphite face over polypropylene honeycomb supposedly 16mm but thinner than that, 7.8 oz. I was very happy with power, somewhat happy with control, and wondering if an expensive thermoformed T700 face would improve my play significantly. Now, after 8 hours of play with my new R1 Pulsar I can say I have seen significant improvement, particularly with controlling various spins, and overall control. The ball dust that collects on the carbon face alerted me to the fact that I was hitting a little above the sweet spot (no indicator of that of the graphite face XS xpak). I can work on that now. The R1 is less poppy and it’s easier to direct volleys snd ground strokes into tight spaces. Raw power seems less than the stiff/hard graphite surface, but control is more important at the mid level of skill, and there is still lots of power available when I want it. I’m glad I upgraded to the latest technology.

My new go to!
I love the R3 Pulsar, but one of my friends at a tournament switched to the R1P and said I should give it a try. At first, I thought it was very good, but not quite worth switching. But then I leaded it up to about 8.9 ounces. 6 in of lead each side from the throat up to the “ar” in Pulsar. Same great and long lasting spin as all the Ronbuses. Its a little bit powered down from R3P, which really helps when you are trying to keep dinks, drops, and resets down with duras in competitive games. Its super fast in the hands and just has amazing feel. Something about that curve at the top just makes the paddle feel nice. To me this is the Hyperion 2.0. Better spin, more power, but same control and has great feel. Long handle (5.5 in model) is perfect for 2 handed backhands. Massive sweetspot especially with the lead. Literally the perfect paddle, nothing I would change! Really suits my game and gives me the confidence to hit any shot I want.
