This paddle is a beast!
The R1 Nova is the first paddle of its kind. This paddle has similar power as the Pulsar but with even more control. Paddle is extremely light weight and balanced. Nova has good pop at the net and excels in hand battles. With this paddle being so light you have the option of keeping the low weight or adding lead to achieve your desired weight. Sweet spot feels good and off center hits are forgiving. If you are looking for a thermoform paddle with amazing control this will be your go to paddle.

Best blend of power and control
Best blend of power and control in any paddle Ive had. I played with Vatic Pros, Legacy Pros, DBD and the CRBN 1 and 3x. Nova beats then all

Ideal balance of control and power
The Nova combines the power of stiff thermoformed paddles with the control of softer gen-1 carbon paddles. I found resets and drops much easier to do with the Nova compared to thermoformed paddles but still had comparable power on drives and putaways. The paddle comes in quite light, mine was 7.7 Oz which lets you customize it with lead tape for your ideal balance point. I put mine up to 8.5. Definitely recommend!

A super Nova with many gears
The best balance of power/control/spin/pop for my game play. The paddle stock is well balanced and fairly light which as others have stated can be a positive trait since it allows for greater freedom for lead tape customization. I prefer adding my lead tape to the throat area to keep the paddle from becoming head heavy. This will stabilize the paddle and allow you to fend of strong drives easier without feeling like the paddle is twisting in your hand. It'll also make the sweet spot feel bigger since mishits won't feel as awful. This paddle plays more like a gen2 thermoformed paddle IMO but with more control. It provides nice feedback for soft touch shots, but also allows for strong drives. The power scaling is very linear, what you put in translates very well to the output that comes out. Very easy to adjust to and I feel the ceiling for power and spin is very high, but that relies on proper swing mechanics. The paddle shape and weight also allows it to be very fast in hand battles. The pop on the paddle isn't that high, but is a good balance providing enough for punches while allowing resets to be controllable. I think the best way to describe it might be a phenomenal paddle with many gears, both on the lower soft spectrum, and the higher end for power/spin.

Easily Became My Go-To Paddle
Having already become a fan of Ronbus for my R1.16, I was really excited to get my hands on NOVA. I was able to play test it against the R1.16 and also a VaticPro Flash 16mm. Initial weight was really light for me and I tend to weight my paddles right away. With overgrip, .1oz on each side at 4 and 8 positions, plus electrical tape all around for edge guard, brought my testing paddle weight to 8.4. Power: More than enough for me to keep some in reserve. By comparison the VP Flash felt muted/dead. with the VP, I had to really try to crank up the power to accomplish what I could easily get from the NOVA. Spin: Felt at least equivalent to the R1.16. Being capable of achieving such high RPM, it is easily more than I could put to full use and it showed up easily during my game. Pop: Happily, NOVA had more pop than the other two I was play testing with. I still would not consider it an Overly-Poppy paddle. Very balanced playability. Control: Dinks and short game felt effortless. The NOVA feels more natural to my style than other thermaforms I have played. I was able to dial it is very quickly Outcome: NOVA is now my paddle of choice. I do enjoy trying out different paddles, but I keep coming back around to NOVA. When I let others give it a go, you could see their eyes light up after a short time in their hands. I can't see how anyone would not be satisfied with its playability. This is a no-brainer selection that will suit so many players. Happy playing!

Joola Hyperion 2.0
The best paddles in the game keep getting better. I have had trouble as of late keeping drops, dinks, and resets down and unattackable when playing with duras and this is the cure. Its also much easier to keep roll volleys and off the bounce speedups from going out. It has a softer more muted feel, more control, and a little less power than the R1 Pulsar. Reminds me a ton of my Joola CFS 16, but its better in every way. Same or more control, faster in the hands, more power and more spin. I think this paddle is best suited for people who have felt that all the other thermos are too powerful and want something they can trust to keep the ball in with. My favorite shot with this has been topspin forehand drops, I feel like Ben Johns when I hit that shot with the Nova. Also note, mine came at 7.7 ounces and I have lead from the entire handle up to the 4 and 8 o’clock positions of the face and it weight 8.77 now after edge tape and an overgrip too.

Love my new R1 Nova Paddle
Just played with my R1 Nova for the first time this morning. Overall……I love it! I weighted it up from 7.8 oz. to 8.7 oz. with lead tape on the grip and 0.1 oz. on each side of the throat. (Plus over grip and black electrical tape around the head and over the lead tape.) It feels just as soft and plush on drops, dinks and resets as my R1.16, with great control but with more power on serves, drives and volleys. The only complaint……the grip is a little small for me. With the lead tape and 1 over grip it’s up to 4 3/8”. I’ll probably add one more over grip to get it closer to 4 1/2”. Overall……I’m very happy with it and will be using it as my primary paddle. The R1Nova played just as advertised. A great paddle all the way around.

This is the way!
I’ve purchased or tested just about every popular paddle out there in search for the best balance of power and control. There is no better paddle out there than the Nova. My go to paddle for a long time was the Hyperion, but I wanted something with similar control that was faster in the hands and had more power. I tried the Perceus, Vatic Pro, CRBN, Legacy Pro, B&B, and even other Ronbus paddles. The Nova is the closest I’ve found to the touch and control of the Hyperion. The hand speed is great! The spin is right up there with all the other Raw Carbon thermos. The power is more than enough on drives and put aways. This will be my go to paddle for a long time.

his paddle is amazing!
This paddle is amazing! Right from the first time playing with it, I can tell it is a very lightweight and excellent control paddle. Its low swing weight allows for great manueverability at the net. Compared to other thermoformed paddles I've played with, the soft control allows for easier drops and dinks, while still providing enough pop and power as a thermo. I love that my serves in particular are noticeably crisp, consistent and easy to place. The icing on the cake is the fact that this paddle has basically eliminated the issue of delamination/disbonding/core crushing. Highly recommended!

R1 Nova Review
Received my R1Nova yesterday and hit CNP this morning. Played it right out of the packaging with exception to adding Tourna Grip. What a great balance of touch/feel and power. Not the most powerful but quite poppy. I added lead to the 5 and 7 o'clock positions and looking forward to getting back out to CNP tomorrow morning. R1 Nova is my new go to paddle, R3P staying in the bag for now. Update: Added lead tape at 5 and 7 positions and with Tourna Grip my R1N now weighs 8.2oz. Its the same weight as my R3P. As expected, it has more power. The R1N is faster at the net and generates a substantial amount of power, just shy of R3P power. Extremely pleased with this paddle, it has exceeded my expectations.
