Great paddle, nothing like it! The Vice, they needed to put holes in the face to prevent cracking. Ronbus found a better way, a better paddle all around, feels quality in your hand. Wether you want the ultimate paddle to play with or train with this is it! Quieter, arm friendly, rewards with the right technique and just improves your play all around. Additionally it is a blast to play with! Another way we use it is for the player playing into the wind, it evens out play and gives the downwind player a chance to hit it deep without over hitting or killing ones arm! It feels like an extension of your hand, great feel, touch, power and the sweet spot is huge! So much fun! The only negative is the coating over the 3D printed face gets scraped up from the ball and under the black coating is white, we are just using a permanent black marker to clean it up, so far no wear to the 3D face just appears to be the coating. We are really enjoying the paddle, can’t wait to see what they produce next!

This is an incredible paddle. The comfort level is great and has really helped me be able to play several times a week without getting a sore elbow and shoulder like I have been experiencing with other paddles. If you have tennis elbow issues, this paddle is the one for you. It is a quiet paddle; this would be an excellent choice for players in communities with sound restrictions as well. The power and control of this paddle is unbelievable. I would highly recommend to anyone to give this paddle a try. You won't regret it.

I primarily play tennis (USTA Rated 4.5) but demo'd many Pickleball paddles and own several. For matches I use the Ronbus R1.16 &/or Engage Omega Evolution Extreme X 16mm. I pull out the Ronbus EV1 &/or Diadem Vice ONLY when other players do not frown on non-traditional paddles. This review took a long time after playing pickleball with friends and incorporates comparison, determination, and measure. Having a tennis background nothing in pickleball is fast per se, but in comparison to traditional paddles, EVA foam based paddles play noticeably faster. UN-like traditional surfaces & polymer foundations, EVA paddles are compressible just by using your fingers, which translates to more of a trampoline effect on the ball. Instead of constant clacking , EVA results in a softer & dampened oomph/thud. Apparent right off the paddle is that they just feel better, more comfortable, all strokes are much easier, and they afford advanced playability in ALL aspects - hits, spin, control, power, feel, sound, etc, and having MORE FUN. Simply put: wins are easier. In comparison to the Diadem Vice, balance is very similar, but I like that the EV1 weighs a bit more OOB. Just by picking it up the EV1 feels more solid than the Vice which makes interesting the question of COMPOSITION, materials, construction, layers, etc, of both paddles, which most of us will never know unless we reverse engineer everything. The EV1's 3D relief surface translates to tiny little bumps over the entire face resulting in better grip, thereby spin. The Vice's entire surface feels sandy similar to traditional paddles but not sure what the material is, and 26 gaping holes through the face allows for wielding aerodynamics. Everyone should lobby to get EVA foam paddles USAP approved for tournament play -- let's all work on this revolution. When the EV1, or future generations, do get approved, Ronbus will immediately propel to major league status, sales will skyrocket, and tournaments will be more exciting. Approval is NOT on Diadem's radar as it applies to the Vice. In fact, Diadem sponsors tournaments where ONLY EVA Foam paddles are allowed.

I believe this design is the future of paddles. No more cookie cutter paddles that are all built the same with the only difference being the logos. This paddle has it all, power, control and swing speed. Now with that said, there is for sure a learning curve when playing with it. I don’t believe this is a paddle for beginners, it’s an advanced players paddle. It is/has taken me time to get use to it, even the sound is different and takes time to get use to. The drives seem to be about 2-6” lower than a traditional carbon honeycomb paddle, so top spin is a must if you are a hard hitter. It has plenty of pop but the soft game is just as good, especially if you like to put spin on dinks etc, that’s where this paddle really shines. Even though it’s not legal for tournaments, I believe it’s the future of paddles and get onboard now do your that much further ahead.

Love the paddle...here's why: Dinks and 3rd shot drops -- because the ball stays on the paddle longer due to the softness of the foam, you get a better feel for your dinks and 3rd shot drops. Drives -- when hitting drives and serves, the ball rockets off of these paddles (trampoline effect) with more velocity. This takes some getting used to because at first you may be hitting balls long out of play. By throttling down my swing, it is now much easier to control the ball but there was an adjustment period when coming from other paddles. It's nice to now that when I really want to throttle up a shot I have that extra power in my back pocket but to do this you have to generate top spin to bring the ball down. Backspin from slice shots seem to work very well and the paddle does produce excellent spin (top spin or slice shots). Volleys and overheads -- again because of the power of the paddle, your power on volleys and overheads will increase so I had to throttle down my volleys (especially on low balls) to keep in play. Overhead smashes become much faster and more effective. Noise -- the paddle is much quieter than normal paddles and this throws opponents off because they are used to louder sounds when the ball is hit with power and not used to a soft sounding shot coming quickly at them so fast. At first it was hard to change between normal paddles and this foam paddle but after some play I can now adjust my game to the paddle I'm using. For a hard core tournament player, this paddle may not be right for you at this time as it is now illegal and it takes some getting used to. Once these paddles get USPA approval, I am convinced that these paddles will in some form lead the way to the next generation of paddles. It's just that good!

Very happy with the feel of the EV1.16, it is soft and comfortable. Wonderful control for dinks and my arm is feeling good after several hours of play. Also nice to hear the muted sound; I live not far from a public park/courts and while I don't mind the normal noise, some neighbors are less happy with it, and a paddle like this could make a positive difference in public perception of the game. Looking forward to a tournament approved version in the future too!

Dong.. Perfect solution...I want to compliment you on your paddle design. The ev1.16 is such a comfortable paddle, I've only had for a week & my elbow & wrist feel 100% better. The paddle seems to absorb any shocking impact on your body & makes playing much more enjoyable...I hope you're able to receive USAP approval. Ball really flies off the paddle face! It can be difficult to control because of the bounce off the face. It takes some getting used to. Big thing for me is it’s not approved for tournament play because it doesn’t say “USAPA Approved” on the paddle. I took it to our pickleball court and that is the first thing everyone said so this is now essentially a practice paddle. Hate to spend that amount of money for a practice paddle but I should have read it more thoroughly. Oh well…lesson learned.

When looking at the EV1.16, you know you are not looking for a tournament-approved paddle due to its construction materials. However, innovation like this leads to better-approved paddles in the future. Playing with a great weight right out of the box is a super fun paddle, easy swing, excellent control, and power when needed. The most prominent feature is that it's way quieter than ordinary paddles. This could be a significant plus in some courts. If you're looking for a tournament-approved paddle, this isn't the paddle for you. If you want something innovative and are looking forward to new paddle technology, look no further!

Paint chips off at an extremely fast rate! I’ll be curious to see what’s left of it after a few games. Not sure if it affects the play at all but is concerning.
